NPS 4X Porc lat weekend. What an awsome weekend. Kents not the easiest place to get to from cornwall, simple country boys on the M25, but it was well worth it. The course and venue had had some negative comments leading up to the event, combines with some riders already securig their series places ment numbers were down. These riders missed an excellent weekend. 661 minidownhill on saturday with open track practice for the 4x and nps4x on sunday.

The 4x track was rutted and fast at the top then windy and more technical at the bottom, and way long. Below is a report that ent into our local press, but the story of the weekend was the DirtBikeSupply factory team pampering on saturday night. hottub
DBS rider Gareth Parr lives not far from Porc so we had beds and aroof for the nght plus the use of his parents steam room, full body shower and hot tub. hottub2 The bbq and beer was good too, Ian chilled right out and into the zone before making the final father

As far as Im concerned all races should be like this and we must return to Porc next year

Press report.
The penultimate round of the British Cycling Mountain Bike 4X series moved to Penshurst in Kent this weekend. Cornwall's mountain bike racers made the 6 hour journey to the spiritual home of English mountain biking. A welcome return to the circuit after a 5 year absence. The course has always had the fastest straight in the country with riders descending over a bridge jump straight down the hill into three massive jumps into to an enormous banked corner. After this test of riders bottle the track gets technical with switch back corners a road gap that caught many out and an of camber grass finish.

Riders who made the journey coped well with a hill that they do not experience at home. Redruths George Curry was consistent in qualifying and placed well in the final only to placed back after a tough line call on the start straight. In juniors Sean Herman had wins in the motos to make the B final after a stacked semi final. Truro's Pazz Holroyd and Penryns Spicy Cumming fought hard in the senior men to achieve 9th and 5th , a strong showing for both hat puts Cummings in second the overall standings. Simon Rickett followed his Bronze medal at the National Championships with a third pushing him up the rankings to 4th in the masters. The national veterans series has come down to a two horse race between team mates Ian Wherry from Carnon downs and Dave Herman from Camborne, both travelled to Kent in pursuit of the title. Both made the final with Herman coming second and Wherry forurth. This leaves the series balanced going into the final round in Bedfordshire in September. Elite rider Will Evans was favourite after practice but suffered a spectacular crash I qualifying smashing his helmet and goggles. He picked himself up raced on and took his 5 second place of the season.

The Truro based Dirtbikesupply.co.uk team that includes many of the riders mentioned above benefited from the strong showing to stretch its lead in the national team competition. With over 600 points it now only needs a safe performance at the final round for DirtBikeSupply to be crowned national mountain bike 4X champions.
