More pre season training.
at last I have my new wheels and new forks on my bike so there was no way I was going to miss out on a race. so I opted for Braintree bmx club as I had never been there before and it was the closest.
after last weeks efforts of getting to Leamington and my dad being away in Belgium I decided it would be a good idea to pinch his van for the day. with no travel companion for this race it was me and my weird and wonderful singing that kept me occupied on the journey, and not having to wait for Mick this time meant that I could leave on time to. unfortunately I got there an hour before I needed to so probably would of been better going with him and his vegetable powered car.
apart from the wind you can not fault Braintree bmx club. possibly one of the nicest ive been to for a while. a nice little track which after 20 minutes of riding made me appreciate how lucky we are in the world of 4x that our tracks go downhill because I was knackered. everyone was real friendly and keen to help and the fact that I was on a mountain bike they could not wait to take the piss out of me. something to do with a mr garland wining masters on an mtb and upsetting a few people. but all in good humour.
I entered the senior category which I soon realised that these golden oldies were not the quickest guys but they did no how to crash in style. my motos I ended up with 2 firsts and a second and a win in the final. the category I should of entered was the formula 1 category which consisted of mainly bmx's but they were super quick. but in this category it was james Goodwin who took the eventual win and a rider that I will be racing in the nps 4x. another rider that caught my eye was wesely farr. well not so much a rider that caught my eye but the only other rider that I new there name.
my highlight of the day was in my third moto, I unclipped out of the gate leaving me in last so I did the only thing I new what to do and got my head down and peddled my little heart our and as I got half way round the first corner I was up to third and catching second fast so I decided to go round the outside of him. the only thing was that he was drifting out wide and not leaving me much room so I stuck to my line and went for it knocking him off in the process. it kind felt like 4x except ive never knocked anyone of before which kind felt good in a strange way.
well im off to check the rule book to see what they say about mtb's racing in the cruiser class because if there is nothing wrong with it then im of to Burnham with my head held high and if anyone does say anything then I shall simply stick my fingers up and tell them were they can shove it.
so I guess I shall see you guys at Burnham on the 22-23 march or chicksands on the 20 April.
