2007 MTB Worlds

The long awaited Fort William World Championships finally came and went this weekend with the big DH win going once again to Sam Hill. 2nd saw Fabien Barel (+0.64) and 3rd was GB's Gee Atherton (+4.37).

Elite Women had a top 10 packed with GB with Helen Gaskell 7th, Fionn Griffiths 5th, Tracy Moseley 4th and Rachel Atherton 2nd, but Sabrina Jonnier took the win and the title by 4 seconds.

Picking up where Gee and Rachel missed out however was Ruaridh Cunningham who took the Junior Men win and gave GB and Scotland it's only 2007 World Champion. Big congratulations to him. He seemed pretty pleased:

In 4X it was 36 year old legend Brian Lopes who took another safe win, with GB's highest place being Scott Beaumont in 7th.

And the Women's 4X saw Jill Kintner with the win and GB's Joey Gough like Beaumonth, in 7th.

For some fancy footage with friendly northern commentary go over to Freecaster. And go to the Dirt blog for a proper review by someone who was actually there.
