4x made another step away from the accusations of being downhill BMX this weekend. Phil Saxena built a new course that looked like a section of Downhill course including rocks, drops and utilised the natural obstacles.

A big British contingent made the trip with nine riders making the cut. Dan Atherton qualified first, Gee was seventh with dominante world cahmpion Michal Prokop down(for him) in third. Returning 2005 champion Brian Lopes made it in fifth. Other British rider worth a mention are Oggy in 31st and Jordan Gould and Lewis Lacey also making the cut. ALl makes Helen Mortimer job of Fort William selection more difficult.

Come racing and most of the british riders fair well. The usaul supsect making the top 20 Beaumont, Longden, Atherton, but big shout for DirtBikesSupply rider Will Evans coming in 22nd. He handed in his sports science dissertation the day before he flew and flies back for final exams. So bike time has been limited, could be all those sprts psych lectures paying off.

The final was insedent packed affair. Joost Winchman overshot the top of the track, while Prokop was back in business leading through the 'mountainbike' bits and into the 'BMX' section only loose it over the last big jump. A rare error from the consistent Czech. Gee was pushing all way and took the win with Lopes coming in third.

Vigo has kicked the season off in style and given us loads to talk about. Saxenas course design alwys pushes the boundaries but we will gather the rider sviews as they return home next week. We all want to know what happened to Prokop. Dan qualifying first then Gee taking the win.
