Chicksands Practice

17 Mar 07 / Posted By Mat

FINALLY got out on my Dialled.

After the torture of slowly building it, then missing my first opportunity to ride, I made it to Chicksands this weekend, thanks to Graham Jenks (pictured below) who luckily lives around the corner and owns a car.

Quick note. The DBS team have easily one of the best sponsorship deals on the 4X circuit with cars being supplied by Europcar. However, as nice as it is being able to pop down to Victoria and pick up a car for every race, I'm feeling the need to own my own... so if anyone knows any careful hatchback owners that are looking to sell their full service history vehicle along with it's 12 months of MOT and road tax, for around £500... then drop me a line!

Anyway. Chicksands was good. I took my Dialled. Graham had his Curtis.

One of the things I like most about Chicksands is how big, diverse and friendly the scene is there, with locals of all ages, sizes, shapes and abilities. For example...

Another local out in force was Tom Dowie (who has to catch a train then ride five miles to ride Chicksands. On a single speed). He spent most of his day dialling nose down 360's, presumably in preparation for Round 1 of the 2007 King of Dirt running next weekend.

Also out and getting in pre-comp runs (this time before the NPS 4X in two weeks time), was Dave Richardson, fresh from his Senior win in the Dialled / Profile winter series, and looking good for this years NPS title as well.

It was just a day of fun though. Both having not ridden in too long for our own good, it was just nice to get out and have a play.

Looking forward to two weeks time then.

See you there.
