With a cold start in the morning I made my way up to Sheffield with thanks to Mick Ridgeway (now of Dialled Bikes) and James Goodwin's (also on dialled bikes) uncle Ian.
In true British style the sun came out in winter and warmed every were and it was lovely. The only problem was we were all stuck racing indoors. Typical.
I noticed very soon that the mountain bikers seemed to be more dominant than the BMX's which is odd but possibly a good sign that there may be more people attending the NPS races this season. We'll see...
Once again in practice I was looking sketchy, but still in one peice, while every one else flew past me with the gratest of ease. For some reason I really suck in practice untill I get on the gate for my first moto.
For the DBS team it was Will Evans in elite and my self in senior. I was going well out of the gate but then seemed to faulter on the rest of the track getting first, fouth and third in my motos. On the other hand Will was getting the worst gates but would then make his way from last to third in all his motos.
In other catergories, BMX 17-29 Chris Jackson was making light work of the opposition and Abbie Taylor was showing all the boys what she was cappable of in her age group.
In junior MTB James Goodwin was looking unstoppable untill the third moto when a machanical let him down. Would this prove to be a problem in the final? Senior MTB Dave Richardson was proveing to hard to beat. And in elite MTB, it was that man again, Martin Ogden, unstoppable on his new stead. Was there any one that could even make an attempt at beating him?
In the junior final James Goodwin overcame his mechanical and took the win.
In senior, a second in my semi saw me safely through to the final, where Dave Richardson had the lead only to loose it on the second turn to Rich somebody (while myself I didn't get the best of starts so was left behind in fifth .
In the Elite B-final our man Will had his usual bad gate, but what he lacks in gates he made up in the corners. He cornered like a pro and made up the lost ground to take the win.
Elite A-final and it was Oggy of Ram bikes who took the win while he closest rival Steve Taylor of Dialled was left to kiss the Floor on the last corner. The only other person I've seen kiss the floor as much as Steve is the pope.
Highlight of the day was not Will Evans gates, as they were awful and even a little amusing, nut his conering was amazing.
Well done to all that rode and we'll see you at the penultimate round and the first round for all you MTB's of the NPS.
